Eclipse Glasses – Don’t Be Blinded By The Light!

Solar eclipses can be awe-inspiring, but can also be dangerous if you don’t have the right protective gear.

Every year, somewhere in the world, we get to experience a lot of solar eclipses but they come to your neighbourhood only occasionally. It’s important to prepare in advance to safely enjoy these awesome events, meaning that it’s essential to have at least one pair of eclipse glasses in your special occasion draw.

Solar Eclipse Glasses Improved Design

Our glasses now come with an improved design that makes them an essential piece of safety equipment for anyone looking to enjoy the spectacle of a solar eclipse. They are designed with comfort in mind; made of lightweight polycarbonate with an adjustable headband, and are perfect for long-term use, as well as comfortable to wear. We produce three standard sizes for adults, children and wearing over prescription spectacles.

Why Do you Need Them?

When it comes to experiencing a solar eclipse, there is no substitute for being prepared. Wearing solar eclipse glasses is the recommended way to safely view the rare spectacle of a total solar eclipse.

Solar eclipse glasses are designed to filter out harmful ultraviolet (UV) and infrared (IR) light while allowing you to view the sun in all its glory. These special lenses allow you to see the full range of colours in the solar spectrum, while also keeping your eyes safe from intense radiation.

Taking Care of Your Solar Eclipse Glasses

If you’re lucky enough to witness the upcoming solar eclipse, then you’ll need to make sure you take proper care of your eclipse glasses. They are designed to protect your eyes from the intense radiation of the sun during the eclipse, so it’s important to treat them with respect.

The most important thing you can do is to always store them in a safe place. This means you need to keep them away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and moisture.

It’s also important to inspect your eclipse glasses regularly to ensure they’re in good condition. Look for any signs of wear and tear such as rips, tears, or scratches. If you notice anything out of the ordinary, it’s best to discard the glasses and get a new pair.

FAQs About Solar Eclipse Glasses

Q1. Can you look at a solar eclipse without glasses?

A: Yes, but it is highly advised not to do so as looking directly into the sun can cause blindness. If your retinas are exposed for more than a few seconds, permanent damage may occur and this will lead to vision loss and possible blindness.

Q2. Why do you wear glasses during a solar eclipse?

A: It is important to protect your eyes during a solar eclipse because looking directly at the sun with unprotected eyes could result in temporary or even permanent blindness.

Q3. Do solar eclipse glasses expire?

A: Not if they are well looked after and stored below 20c.

Q4. What are eclipse glasses made of?

A: There are two types of material that solar eclipse glasses come in: Paper or plastic. Plastic lenses offer better protection against harmful UV rays and should be worn if viewing a partial or total eclipse. Paper lenses offer some protection against UV rays, however, there is no guarantee that these types of lenses offer full protection from harmful rays as there has not been any research done on paper’s ability to filter out damaging UV rays.

Q5. Are there other times that I can use them?

A: Yes you can look at the sun directly through these glasses any day. It is especially useful to have them to hand when preparing for that amazing sunset.
